Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Requirements

  • Red Seal Millwright Trade Certificate (mandatory).
  • Valid Code EB or higher driver’s license (mandatory).
  • Age between 24 and 30 years (mandatory).
  • Own tools including multi-meter and clamp meter (mandatory)
  • Basic PLC programming and SCADA integration knowledge preferred (mandatory).
  • Must have broad knowledge and experience on conveyer belts, gearboxes, screw conveyor, bucket elevators and crushers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • 1–2 years mining or heavy industry experience advantageous but not essential; attitude and eagerness to learn are paramount.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite) and basic welding ability (mandatory).
  • Position carries a 2.9.2 Legal Appointment as per mining regulations (mandatory).
  • Must be a South African citizen (mandatory).
  • Medically fit and certified by an Occupational Medical Practitioner to perform work on a mine in compliance with the Code of Practice and Mine Health and Safety Act (mandatory).
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, climbing, and manual handling.
  • Maintain neatness, tidiness, and good housekeeping in the work area.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic maintenance team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Maintain mechanical, electrical, PLC automation, and instrumentation systems across two plants.
  • Plan, install, wire, and program new PLC systems with SCADA integration in collaboration with the Senior Electrician.
  • Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Fabricate parts and conduct basic welding as required.
  • Order parts and equipment as needed to ensure uninterrupted plant operation
  • Complete all required documentation, including inspection sheets and maintenance logs.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Participate in overtime and standby duties on a rotational basis.
  • Comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and promote a safe work environment.
  • Good knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits per MHSA requirements
